The Evolution of Evolutionism
Evolutionists insist that the "whole of reality" is evolution, a "single process of self transformation." Thus they presume to "explain" the evolution of virtually everything, including religion. So what about the evolution of evolutionism itself? In this presentation we examine the evolution of evolutionism from the first recorded question ("Did God really say?") through the materialistic speculations of the ancient Greeks and on up to the time of Darwin. We will see that there is indeed "nothing new under the sun."

The Scopes Monkey Trial
The famous Scopes "monkey trial" lasted only eight days during the hot July of 1925 in Dayton, Tennessee. This great trail addressed profoundly important questions that still concern us today regarding the teaching of evolution in the schools and the role of parents in their children's education. The state of Tennessee had passed the Butler act, which forbade public schools to teach that man evolved from nonhuman ancestors. The American Civil Liberties Union unsuccessfully challenged this law in the Scopes trial. In this presentation, richly illustrated with photos from the period, we examine the events and arguments in the trial as revealed in an actual trial transcript. A far more intriguing story emerges than the fictionalized "Hollywood history" popularized in the movie "Inherit The Wind."

Inherently Wind: A Hollywood History of the Scopes Trial
It seems we can always count on Hollywood screen and play writers to revise history to be consistent with an atheistic view of the world. First the play and then the various screen and television versions of "Inherit the Wind" have largely succeeded in turning the facts of the Scopes Trial upside down and backwards. In this presentation, the fictionalized and distorted events and statements in the play/films are compared to the actual events and statements recorded in the trial transcript. What emerges is an outrageous propaganda effort through the medium of theater to demean and demonize those Christians who dared to doubt evolutionary dogma. Once again, truth trumps fiction.

Science and the Question of Origins: Did Kansas Do the Right Thing?
On August 11, 1999 the Kansas State Board of Education voted to eliminate evolution from their state-wide assesstment tests. However, evolution can still be taught in schools. Response from evolutionists and the news media was swift. Many evolutionists claimed that biology could not be taught without evolution. Several scientific societies called for boycotts of Kansas. And, the A.C.L.U. threatened to sue if even the weaknesses of evolution were presented in public classrooms!

Would it be possible to teach science if evolution was not taught? Was the famous evolutionist Theodosius Dobzhansky correct when he said "Nothing in biology makes sense except in the light of evolution."? Evolutionists would have us believe that evolution plays the "central, unifying role" in all of science. But this view is rooted in a fundamental misunderstanding of science. Many people are confused when evolution is sometimes touted as a "fact" and at other times as a "theory." It is possible for a scientific phenomenon to be a fact, a theory, and a law - all at the same time. Evolution, however, qualifies as none of the above. In this presentation, we examine the limitations of science in addressing the question of origins. Additionally, we will discuss some of the issues and implications raised by the Kansas State Board of Education's decision.

The Fossil Record: a Creation Story in Stone
Evolution is believed to have proceeded so slowly in the history of the earth that it is not visible in the time frame of human observers. If there is physical evidence of the evolution of plants or animals into fundamentally different kinds of organisms it would have to be observed as "intermediate forms" in the fossil record.

Dinosaurs By Design
No animal has stirred the imagination of man more than the dinosaurs. Over a thousand species of dinosaurs have been discovered in the fossil record representing over 400 families. They ranged in size from about two feet long to over 100 feet long! When many people think of dinosaurs, they think of evolution, but dinosaurs provide compelling evidence for special Creation. But are these awesome creatures mentioned in the Bible? What exactly is a dinosaur, what were they like, and whatever happened to them? Chance or Design?
In this presentation we compare and contrast chance and design as explanations for the complexity we see in living things. How can we tell if a structure is the result of chance and natural processes? Without God, nature would be at best a down hill process of decay.

Feathers and Fur
This popular lecture examines the marvelous complexity of even something as seemingly simple as a feather and a hair. Evolutionists insist that birds evolved from reptiles and that feathers have evolved from reptilian scales. A comparison of feathers and reptilian scales in the scanning electron microscope, however, reveals they have nothing in common. We will see that things created by God, such as feathers and hairs, look more and more complex and beautiful as we magnify them thousands of times. By comparison, things made by man look cruder and cruder as we magnify them in the microscope.

Formed to Fly
Evolutionists have long argued that birds evolved by chance from reptiles. The fossil bird Archaeopteryx is often cited as compelling evidence of a missing link between reptiles and birds - but is it? We will see that no two classes of animals differ more dramatically than do reptiles and birds. Unlike reptiles, birds are truly "formed to fly." We will examine the feathers, hollow bones, unique respiratory system, the all seeing avian eye, and specialized muscles that permit a bird to fly and navigate in air.

Bones - Our Human Framework

The Scriptures say, "As you do not know what is the way of the wind, or how the bones grow in the womb of her who is with child, so you do not know the works of God who makes everything Eccl 11:5 (NKJ)." In this presentation, we examine the marvelous way that bones develop in the embryo and during growth as well as their critical importance for our survival. Bones are dynamic living structures that respond to our own weight and every movement with both subtle and profound changes in their structure and composition. Human bones and model bones are used to illustrate the structure and function of our bones.

Three Ways to Make an Ape Man
No field of evolution receives more media attention than that of the presumed origin of man from ape-like ancestors. Hardly a week goes by without the announcement of a new "missing-link." In this presentation, we will examine the structural differences between apes and men and will define what it is that evolutionists look for in deciding that an ape-like creature is an ancestor of man. Particular attention will be given to a critical examination of the fossil known as "Lucy."

Evidence for Design - the Eyes Have It!
No organ of the human body has convinced man more regarding our special Creation than the eye. For centuries, Christians have used the eye as "Exhibit A" for the handiwork of our Creator. This presentation, adapted from a medical school anatomy lecture, delves deeply into the marvelous complexity of our eye. The beautiful clarity of the cornea, the focusing lens, the control of light intensity, the invisible blood supply to the retina, the precise muscular control of the eyeball - all attest to the awesome glory of our Creator.

Hair
When God revealed a small glimpse of his Glory to Moses He hid behind a rock lest Moses be overwhelmed. Even a single human hair reveals enough of God's Glory to leave anyone without excuse who would attempt to deny the existence of our Creator. In this presentation, we will examine the complexity of the human hair, and the follicle from which it grows, with the aid of the light microscope and scanning electron microscope.

Beauty Is Skin Deep
While it is true that "beauty is more than skin deep," it is also true that our skin itself reveals God's marvelous handiwork as our Creator. Our very survival depends on a tissue paper thin layer of dead cells on the surface of our skin. The way in which these critically important cells are produced, organized and replaced is a lesson in humility for the most brilliant engineer. The role of the skin as a barrier as well as our main organ of temperature regulation serves to show the provident care of our Creator.

The Story of Grandpa's Ax: Human Aging and Death
[in preparation] Methuselah died at the age of 980 years of age. Prior to the great Flood of Noah, it was common for humans to live to a comparable age. While a life span of several hundred years is difficult for us to imagine today, the human body seems to have been designed to live forever. Our body continually repairs and replaces most of its parts throughout life. In a sense, we never really get older! Sickness, aging and death reveal that our perfectly created bodies became dreadfully damaged through sin.

What a Difference a Day Makes: Time, Age & Dating in the Light of Science and Scripture
Perhaps no issue in the Creation/Evolution controversy is more divisive among Creationists and Christians than questions regarding the age of the earth and the universe. Many Christians insist that it really doesn't make any difference if the days of creation are ordinary 24 hour days or vast periods of time. Many have concluded that the evidence for a 4.5 billion year old earth and a 12-14 billion year old universe are so compelling that Christians will simply have to accommodate these "facts" no matter what the Scriptures say. In this presentation, we will critically examine the different methods of estimating (calculating?) the age of the earth and the universe.

Implications of Evolutionism
Many Christians have attempted to accommodate an evolutionary worldview into Christianity. This compromise is not only unnecessary but undermines the very Gospel of Jesus Christ. In this presentation we will compare and contrast the biblical teaching of Creation with the materialistic worldview of evolution. We will examine the influence of Darwinism on Darwin and on the development of Marxism, German militarism and racism. Several examples will be given of major Christian denominations that have compromised on evolution and the devastating effects it has had on their doctrine and view of God and man.

My Experiences as a Scientist and Christian
My testimony of over 35 years as a scientist and educator in the fields of biology and medicine. Far from undermining my Christian convictions, true science supported them by providing a glimpse of God's power and majesty in Creation.

I Never Quit Playing With Toys
Both my hobbies and my career are largely a result of playing with toys from the A. C. Gilbert Company - manufacturer of the famous Erector set. Chemistry sets, microscope set, mineralogy set and even a "Mysto Magic" set are toys I enjoyed and never really quit playing with. I have some thoughts in this regard for the families engaged in home schooling.
